See What Parents are Saying about Skipwith Academy

As first time parents nothing is more important than the knowledge that our child is being taken care of and is happy. The Director and teachers at Skipwith Academy have welcomed my son, my husband and I with open arms and treated us as family. Robert enjoys his time with his teachers along with the other children and has a big smile on his face when we arrive every morning, which is reassuring for us. The artwork and pictures that are sent home with him allow us to see that he is developing the instructional, emotional and socialization skills necessary to achieve his developmental milestones in life. We are lucky to have found such a wonderful and caring day school for our son.

I am thankful for all of the wonderful care that the staff at Skipwith at Woodlake provides to my son. He loves his teachers and his class! I appreciate the open door policy that allows me to visit throughout the day. The staff in the infant room teaches my son so many important lessons and always tells us all about his day. When we worried about his napping schedule, they took the time to talk with us and helped us brainstorm ways to make napping easier for him. We appreciate very much the love that Skipwith provides daily to our baby and we love being a part of the Skipwith Academy family!

My favorite Skipwith Academy event so far has been the Q&U Wedding!! While the Art Show was a close second, I really enjoyed the opportunity to see weeks of hard work and creativity blossom into such a beautiful performance. The best part was that parents, students, and teachers all participated in some way – between costumes and decorations to practicing and reciting lines, we all took part in making this a successful event. Thanks for allowing us to share in and be a part of such wonderful memories!

My son started daycare when he was 3 months old. It is very hard to leave him every day to go to work but what makes it easier is the fact that we LOVE Skipwith Academy! When I pick my son up in the evenings he is happy which makes me feel better because I know he is getting excellent care. The teachers & staff are very sweet and friendly. I like the fact that they fill out a daily report sheet and everything your child does is documented for the day. I also like how the teachers do finger painting with the infants and other fun stuff so the children are learning & being creative as well as playing. When your child goes to daycare as a parent you are putting your trust in others to make sure your child is safe & well taken care of and Skipwith Academy does an excellent job of this!

It is with great pleasure that I am writing this letter to commend the teachers of Skipwith Academy at Hanover for their enthusiastic and compassionate demeanor regarding children and the educational process. Each day you can expect to be greeted and welcomed into a loving and caring environment with a smile. The Director has initiated community outreach projects each month which instill values in our children which will benefit them for the rest of their lives. The programs, activities and themes that are planned each month, teach my child to share, learn and expand cultural/educational awareness. I can't express how much joy we get in class parties, festivals and performances. Management always implements and addresses any ideas or concerns in a timely fashion. All staff should be commended for their hard work and commitment. It is hard to make the decision to leave your child each day but this is made so much easier knowing that he is given love, compassion and cared for in a safe environment.

I have a son that attends Skipwith at Wellesley. He just turned 5 and Skipwith Acacemy has been his second home since he was 4 months old. I remember the first time he had to change rooms. He was moving from Infant 1 to Infant 2. I was so worried that his new teachers would not take care of him like his Infant 1 teachers did. To my surprise - Ms. Heather took care of him just as well or, if not, better. It made me feel so good, because being a working mother; you have this guilt of leaving the most precious thing in your life with someone else all day. But what I have found with Skipwith was that every teacher took him right into their class, their day, their life and their hearts. It is amazing. It does not matter what time of day you walk through the door, every one that you pass by is always greeting you good morning or good evening. Teachers that he never even had call him by name and ask how he is doing that day. I cannot tell you how friendly, kind and caring everyone is at Skipwith. Because of that, I know that my son is being taken care of when I am not with him. It is really nice to know that at Skipwith, teachers are not there just to do a job, but to really take the time to help my child develop in every way. We are looking forward to big boy school and I know our son will be ready because of all the teachers that he has had along the way. Now you know why I feel that Skipwith Academy is my son's second home!

My daughter has been in Skipwith Academy at Pebble Creek since she was 10 weeks old, and she’s now 3 months shy of being 3. From Day 1, we have loved everything about Skipwith, and the comfort it gives us knowing that she is well taken care of. Everyone there is fantastic to work with, they’re great with the kids, and my daughter really enjoys going to school every day. Each night before she goes to bed, she tells me that she’ll see me in the morning when we go to school, because she actually looks forward to going. That is proof to me, that Skipwith is a great place with fabulous people! I would recommend it to anyone who asks me.

I just wanted to say how much my family has loved Skipwith. I knew I could drop off my daughter and she would be cared for the way I would care for her. Her teacher, who has been there forever, used to call her sunshine and still does. Currently, my middle child is in the Montessori Program and I could not be happier. She has learned so much in this class. My youngest is in the infant room and the teacher is the same loving and caring person that she was when my daughter was in her class. I am looking forward to my son growing with Minnieland as my other children are. Thank you for all you do!!

We have had our children attending the Skipwith Academy at Pebble Creek for the last 5 1/2 years. While the location of the facility is extremely convenient for us, it is the teachers and staff that keep us as patrons. The level of effort the staff has put into making the lives of our children better has been outstanding. They offer a Montessori program, a Junior Kindergarten, swimming time in Skipwith's own on-site pool, and other activities that are just not offered in the same capacity at any other Daycare that we have seen. The teachers love and care for the children as if they were their own, and treat the children not as just a number. We plan on continuing our children's attendance at the Skipwith Academy at Pebble Creek for many years to come.

Rutland has been a blessing to me and my family. When I drop my son off, I have the greatest peace of mind because I know that he is being taken care of. He enjoys going to school where he receives security, education and love from his teachers. The programs at Rutland are phenomenal and I wouldn't suggest anywhere else to go. Thank you, Rutland, for being my home away from home.

My daughter has been going to Skipwith for 2.5 years. She loves it there. She loves the directors and the teachers. They treat her so well. The school is historic and beautiful. The rates are about the same all the other centers in the area and they provide breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snack. In the summer they have educational fun field trips and a private pool, as well as in house events! We love Skipwith!

We have been members of the Skipwith family for over 3 years, having a child go from the Infant Program up to Prep, and two more in the Infant program today. We have been blessed with Teachers along the way that have cared for and loved on our children as if they were their own. We see this love in each Milestone they meet and exceed, the daily reports and feedback, and the bonds they make with their teachers. We have proudly recommended Skipwith for its program, teachers and staff over the years and continue to provide this support today! Thanks for loving our family and especially our kids!

In our experience in almost 6 years now at Skipwith, we have been met with nothing but open arms. The care has been terrific for my daughter and the staff has always been warm and helpful throughout. From the toddler program to Montessori, Skipwith has helped prepare my daughter for her next steps when she entered Kindergarten. Now in the school age class they continue to help her grow and mature. I honestly can't thank the staff and the other families enough for making my daughters years with them such a great time and experience!

Good afternoon! I would love to share that my husband and I are thrilled with the learning that is going on in our son's class. He participates in the prep class at Skipwith Academy at Rutland. He is only there part time for now and we plan to enroll him full-time closer to kindergarten. He comes home when he attends and talks about all of the fun things that he is doing. Just last night our toddler had made a mess at home with a bunch of shoes and he ran over to the mess and said ”This is a huge mess; all of these shoes are disheveled!" My husband and I were mind-blown that he actually use the word disheveled correctly. When I asked him where he had heard it he said, "At school, it is one of our words this week." I called the school to let them know and sure enough it was in fact one of the words for the week. Not only did he remember but he also used it correctly in a sentence and applied it to his real life! I am currently an assistant principal at a middle school and a former English teacher of a decade. I have some middle schoolers that can't take a word out of context and apply it to another so needless to say we are very impressed with the job that the teachers and directors are doing at Rutland! Keep up the great work! High expectations equal highly successful children that Foster a love of learning for a lifetime.
