My name is Amy Davis, and I have been Center Director since May 2017. I joined the LLE Family in 2015 once my family moved back from North Carolina. I am originally from Mechanicsville, Virginia and I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University of Mary Washington. I have been in child care since 2003, in three different states: North Carolina, Missouri and Virginia. My husband and I have two children that have learned and developed in the centers with me, and I have loved having them so close!
I always knew I wanted to work with children and I enjoy working in this field because it lays the foundation for all future education, social relationships, and attachments. The first five years of a child’s life are so crucial to their development, and I love being a part of molding each mind and learning from the children, too!
My favorite part of the day is walking into a classroom and everyone running towards me calling “Ms. Amy,” as they are so excited to see me. It makes me feel like a celebrity and it makes my heart happy!
Skipwith Academy is committed to supporting families and children in the communities we serve. We provide a variety of options for learning, not only based on the age of the child, but also his or her prior learning, maturity, and developmental stage. Our curriculum is based on a learning plan for meeting the emotional, physical, social, and cognitive needs of children using developmentally appropriate practices in a supportive environment.
