Tips for a Smooth Transition Back to School

By September 20, 2017Helpful Hints, News, Skipwith Blog

It’s been a long summer…exciting for some and tiring for others. For a number of children, getting back into the groove of studying and learning again can be difficult.  Summer has been a whirlwind of pool days and play dates and it can be hard to adjust to a set schedule again. We’ve gathered together a number of tactics to get your child ready to tackle the school year. Check it out!

  • Track school progress in a fun way

As children get older, the novelty of a new school year wears off. Don’t let it wear off too easily! Try putting up a fun chart that tracks progress in school. Stickers and prizes are always a fun bonus as well!

  • Try a new extracurricular activity

A new school year should be a fresh start for your youngins! Encourage your children to try something new. Who knows? Maybe they’ll find their new passion!

Read read read! Don’t get behind and have fun with it…simple as that. You can incorporate it into your bath or night time routine. Even audio books while in the car are a quick and easy way to get some extra stories in!

  • Support homework efforts

There’s nothing more demotivating than trying your hardest at a task and not having your efforts recognized. Don’t let this happen to your child. Make homework an investment in everyone’s day.

  • A hearty breakfast

Sometimes a delicious meal to look forward to can be the motivational factor to get your little one out of bed in the morning.
